Lakewood Elementary has an awesome community day called "Old Glory Day" which corresponds with a wounded veterans bike ride through town, all the way up to Waco, TX. There is an outdoor assembly in the morning, then the kids do a parade around the school, and finally families are welcome to join their kids for a picnic lunch outside on the lawn. After families go home, the kids finish the day learning more about patriots and history.
You have never seen a kid who loves school lunch as much as Alaina. Wait, maybe unless you've seen Dallin! They think it is SO exciting!
